Non linear narratives – Point B to D to C to A
Ellipses- is Narrative device and also the most basic idea in film editing. Ellipsis has to do with the omission of a section of the story that is either obvious enough for public to fill in (their heads) or concealed for a narrative purpose, such as suspense or mystery
Parallel Editing – Cross cutting technique of alternating two or more scenes that often happen simultaneously but in different locations
Basic cutting/Match cuts/Transitions – Match cuts are cuts between an action and then a closer cut of what is happening.
Kuleshov Effect – Effects of juxtaposition. Through his experiments and research, Kuleshov discovered that depending on how shots are assembled the audience will attach a specific meaning or emotion to it
Reaction shots – Clue in the name
Insert shots – similar to match shot but it is from the perspective of the character who is doing the action
